conquer

Only 3% of everyone who attempts to lose weight actually achieves that long term goal. For the rest of us, the 97% of us, who have taking pills, gone to step aerobics, Taebo™, Spinning™, circle classes and all of the latest and hottest methods achieving that weight loss goal has been tantamount to winning the lottery. We begin to experience progress and we are encouraged that maybe this time this one diet is finally going to help us lose the weight. But within weeks of being euphoric and profoundly grateful of losing some of the weight, we watch the scale go up again. We are beaten, disillusioned, and finally discouraged. We just don't want to be fooled one more time into yet another false sense of the euphoria that this time we are going to end the nightmare of yet another failed diet. |
The End of Diets is the end of roller coaster ride. It is a journey of profound, personal change where we finally understand what fuels the over-eating behavior, what is the compelling force that causes us to use food to deal with our emotions. The tried and failed attempts now come to an end. It is long and steady progress in a journey into ourselves where we discover what triggers the overeating behavior, how we use food to help us cope with life. But more importantly what we will need to change within ourselves to stay on the road of permanent weight loss and we get to finally experience a healthy and vital self.
We will learn that food is not the only way that we have to deal with our emotions and in learning this lesson we can finally stop the over-eating behavior and once and for all achieve our weight loss goal. As Edmund Hillary said on reaching the top of Mount Everett, "We do not conquer the mountain, we conquer ourselves." As human being learning to be with our emotions is one of the most profound gifts we can give ourselves. It is the key to eradicating compulsive overeating and finally healing the emotional hunger.
